A son, a brother, a soldier, a husband, a father, a friend. These are simple words that mean so very much. For everyone that knew Tom, you know what these simple words meant to him. For those that didn't know Tom, you sure missed knowing a truly wonderful person.
We had the great pleasure of living across the street from Tom, Jenn, Jess, Ashlie at Ft. Benning, GA (NCO days). This family was and is the definition of a True American Family. The love, support, pride and humor was evident in everything that they did. The accomplishments of this family are remarkable. But the sadness of losing someone so wonderful is over-whelming.
Jenn, I know that your days will be rough and your nights even worse, but you are the kind of woman that inspires the rest of us with your strength, love and support for your family. Tom was, is, and will always be proud of you and his girls. I pray that you, Jess, and Ashlie will find comfort in the memories of times shared with Tom. Know that you have the love and support of a GREAT number of true friends.
If there is ever anything that we can do, please do not hesitate to call. God bless you, the girls, and the rest of Tommy's family. Tom will forever be remember and truly missed. Frank, Theresa, Kody, and Nick Glenn (Bogalusa, LA)
We first met Tom, Jenn, Jess and Ashlie when we were at Fort Benning. What an amazing family!!!
As is the Army way, we lost touch with the Bosticks when we moved to Germany. Our paths have crossed again here in Schweinfurt a few short months ago.
Tom, Jenn and Ashlie were at our son Sean's first birthday party and Tom gave Sean lots of wisdom from a man's perspective (Bill is in Iraq). The most important one given that day was, "Pick up the cake and just stuff it into you mouth. Boys don't use spoons and delicately eat cake." Tom was the only person who was able to convince Sean to eat a few bites of cake (from a spoon).
Tom was a great husband, father, friend and Soldier who is terribly missed!
Jenn, Jess and Ashlie, please let us know if we can ever do anything for you!
It is hard for me to put into words my true feelings and emotions regarding Tommy. As many have mentioned on this blog and at his funeral, he epitomized what was right about being a husband, father, brother, son, soldier, and comrade.
When I think about Tommy, I think about all the great times. As I reflect on the time with him in the SETAF G3 shop, 173rd ABN BDE S3 shop, and in 1/508th ABN; I recall many of the his great qualities.
Be it working with Tommy in uniform, riding bikes with him through the Italian hills (even though we had matching bikes it was easy to pick him out because of his TEXAS riding jersey- not many of those in Italy), or just hanging out; being with Tommy just felt right.
You knew that you had someone that you could ALWAYS count on to cover your back. If your car was broken, he gave you his. If you needed a ride to the airport at 5 AM he offered to drive you before you could even ask. If you were struggling with a project, he was right there with you trying to figure it out. If you were trying to sleep in on Sunday morning, he was there at your house to wake you up in order to share some café.
And as he proved in his final moments, if you needed someone to risk their life to get to you, you knew Tommy would be there. He truly demonstrated that he possessed the greatest love of all for he laid “down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). If you had to share a foxhole with someone you wanted it to be with Tommy.
It is so hard to say goodbye to Tommy because of all his great qualities. The day that Josh McGary called to tell me that Tommy died was the worst day of my life. Tommy meant that much to everyone. But as we were overcome by emotions after the funeral, my wife reminded us that Tommy’s spirit was not in the ground at Arlington Cemetery but with all of us. It was then that I realized that if we need some additional support or strength, then without even asking (in his usual fashion) Tommy will still be with us just as he always has been.
Tommy, always be with us and know that we love you.
To Jennifer, Jessica, Ashlie, and the Bostick family. Know that we continue to keep you in our prayers. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any assistance to you.
